Booking Terms & Charter Rules
Reservations, payment, cancellations, and conduct on the boat
These terms apply to all Austin Surf Camp bookings — Youth Surf Camp, Private Surf Session, and Private Boat Charter. By booking, paying for, attending, or participating, the booking party agrees to these terms.
1. Services
Youth Surf Camp — small-group wakesurf coaching for kids joining individually (no private group required). Ages 7–17. Captain and instructor included; up to 6 riders; grouped by age and ability when possible. 3 hours — $150 per rider. Select weekday mornings.
Private Surf Session — private 3-hour wakesurf coaching for families, kids, adults, and mixed-age groups. All ages welcome; captain and instructor included; up to 6 guests. 3 hours — $600 per group (the whole boat).
Private Boat Charter — captain-led Lake Austin charter for wakesurfing, wakeboarding, tubing, cruising, or a custom mix. All ages welcome; captain included; up to 6 guests. $250 per hour, per group; 2-hour minimum (the whole boat).
All sessions are subject to availability, weather, water conditions, captain discretion, guest eligibility, safety requirements, and completion of all required forms before participation.
2. Captain-Led; Guest Maximum
All sessions are captain-led; the booking party does not receive control or navigation authority over the vessel (no bareboat charter). No more than six (6) guests may be carried unless Austin Surf Camp agrees in writing and the law allows. Children, minors, parents, chaperones, spectators, and non-riding passengers count toward the maximum if onboard; crew, captain, and authorized staff do not.
3. Minors & Supervision
Participants under 18 must be registered by a parent or legal guardian. A participant under 7 must have a parent, legal guardian, or guardian-approved adult present for the entire session. Participants 7–17 may participate without an adult present, subject to swimming ability, maturity, safety approval, and captain and instructor discretion. With a supervising adult present, there is no minimum age; a supervising adult onboard counts toward the six-guest maximum.
4. Payment
Payment is accepted by card through our website (Stripe) or by Zelle. A booking is confirmed only when payment, all required forms, and participant information are complete. Austin Surf Camp may refuse boarding or participation if required paperwork is incomplete.
5. Cancellation & Refund Policy
Cancellations made more than 72 hours before the session are eligible for a full refund. Cancellations made within 72 hours incur a charge of 50% of the total. No-shows are non-refundable, and late arrivals may result in a shortened session without refund or price reduction. Austin Surf Camp may, at its discretion, offer rescheduling or credit depending on availability, weather, and circumstances.
6. Weather, Water Conditions & Safety Rescheduling
Austin Surf Camp may modify, delay, reschedule, relocate, shorten, or cancel a session due to unsafe weather, lightning, wind, water conditions, excessive traffic, mechanical issues, public-safety or law-enforcement activity, waterway restrictions, or captain judgment. Safety decisions rest with Austin Surf Camp and the captain. Weather that is inconvenient but not unsafe does not by itself entitle the booking party to a refund.
7. Captain Authority & Unsafe Conduct
The captain has final authority over all vessel operations and safety decisions, including where the vessel operates, which activities are permitted, when participants may enter or exit the water, whether a guest may ride, and whether a session pauses, changes, returns to dock, or ends. Austin Surf Camp may end a ride or session without refund if a guest refuses instructions, appears intoxicated or impaired, brings illegal drugs, provides alcohol to a minor, behaves recklessly or disruptively, harasses others, enters the water or approaches the propeller area without permission, attempts to operate the vessel, or damages property.
8. Equipment, Damage & Personal Property
Equipment must be used only as instructed. The booking party is responsible for damage, loss, or destruction of Austin Surf Camp, vessel, or third-party property caused by intentional misconduct, reckless conduct, misuse, or failure to follow instructions. Guests are responsible for their own personal property; Austin Surf Camp is not responsible for lost, stolen, damaged, or dropped personal items, and guests should not bring valuables onboard.
9. No Guaranteed Results; Public Waterway
Austin Surf Camp provides instruction, coaching, and recreational experiences but does not guarantee that any participant will stand up, land a trick, reach a specific skill level, experience specific conditions, or complete a specific amount of riding time. Lake Austin is a public waterway, and Austin Surf Camp cannot control other vessels, wakes, swimmers, docks, debris, weather, law-enforcement activity, events, closures, or third-party conduct.
10. Required Forms
Before participating, each adult participant and each parent or legal guardian of a minor must complete the Austin Surf Camp Participant Agreement (the Smart Waiver), which includes the assumption of risk, release of liability, safety-rules acknowledgment, medical authorization, arbitration agreement, and — where applicable — the parent/guardian consent. Failure to complete required forms may result in denial of participation without refund.
